Josh Stickney
Tulsa, OK

Josh Stickney, an openly gay man, was adopted in 1992 through a Tulsa adoption agency by a family who is welcoming, loving and open. That’s why, when Oklahoma’s legislature passed a discriminatory adoption bill in 2018 allowing agencies to discriminate against prospective LGBTQ adoptive and foster parents, he could not remain silent.

“Child welfare services shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Josh said. “This is about keeping loving LGBTQ, single-parent or interfaith families from having a beautiful adoption story like mine.” Josh now works at Equality California.
